Little Brown Puddle
Shows my reflection so, never a lie
Alas hides me crying from within.
Rippling gently and stirring uneasily
Thunderstorms roll, whipping wind and rainLittle brown puddle
Watches and stirrs, laughs in its language
Reflects my teary eyes and worry lines
Of a battle lost, crash and burn.
Black are my insides, chared and scorched
Stabbed, betrayed, deprived.
Little brown puddle
Watches me watch those pass me by
More fortunate than I, happy and content
Little brown puddle
Watches them watch me
Crestfallen and alone.
My eyes are drawn to those named friends,
Wondering off into the distance,
Whilst I stand with little brown puddle
Crestfallen and alone.
Little brown puddle
Murky and dim, shallow and dirty
You stand by me in this rain and lightning.
Thunder stirrs violently, lightning strikes before me
I tremble and fall beside little brown puddle.
It splashes and spins, whispering to me,
Stand forth and conquer that
Which is destined to destroy you;
Use this bolt of lightning wisely.
Lightning bolt strikes me,
channels through little brown puddle
Energizes me, revitalises me.
I stand as a tower, now tumbling down,
Awaiting rebirth;
recrudescence.
Shocked and amazed, eerily comfortable,
I stand once more
And walk that solitary path happier than ever before.
Little brown puddle,
I gazed upon you
Now you gaze upon me and smile.
Never will I forget you,
little murky brown puddle.
